SRI GOTEC enables audit-ready EU export compliance with TSC CBAM Exporter

SRI GOTEC, the India plant of Gotec Group, calculated product-embedded emissions and generated its first CBAM-compliant quarterly report for EU customers with TSC CBAM exporter software.

Industry:   Motor Vehicle / Auto Parts Manufacturing

Plant: Neemrana, India

Role: Goods Exporter to EU TSC

About SRI GOTEC

SRI GOTEC is the India-based manufacturing plant of Gotec Group, producing precision auto parts and components for export to European customers. As a goods exporter to the EU, SRI GOTEC falls directly within the scope of the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which requires exporters to calculate and disclose the embedded carbon emissions of every CBAM-covered product shipped to EU buyers.

  • Challenges
  • No established process for calculating product-embedded carbon emissions at the plant level
  • Uncertainty on the correct monitoring methodology, calculation-based vs. measurement-based and which emission factors and standard databases to apply
  • No mechanism to generate CBAM-compliant quarterly export reports for EU customers
  • EU customers were beginning to demand CBAM declarations as a prerequisite for continued trade, creating urgency with no clear path forward
  • Outcome
  • Full CBAM domain mapping completed: products, production routes, processes, inputs, outputs, and emission factors identified and structured on the platform
  • Monitoring methodology determined and configured, with emission factors mapped to standard databases
  • First CBAM quarterly report generated for a selected EU customer within the pilot timeline
  • Data readiness gaps identified and documented, providing a clear runway to full-scale deployment

Use cases:

  • CBAM product-embedded emissions accounting for export shipments
  • Production route and process-level emissions mapping

.

  • Monitoring methodology selection and emission factor configuration
  • Quarterly CBAM report generation for EU customers

Problem: No process for CBAM report submissions

When CBAM regulation came into force, SRI GOTEC faced a compliance challenge with no internal roadmap. The regulation required detailed product-level embedded emissions data to be calculated and reported on a quarterly basis,  a process entirely new to the organisation.

Emissions data relevant to CBAM, covering raw materials, production processes, and energy inputs, was distributed across internal teams with no centralised system to consolidate it.

EU customers were already requesting CBAM declarations before finalising purchase orders. Without a structured reporting process, SRI GOTEC risked disrupting its export relationships and falling behind on regulatory requirements.

Methodology: Full-stack CBAM mapping and reporting with TSC CBAM Exporter

The Sustainability Cloud’s team began with a comprehensive CBAM domain and business mapping exercise at SRI GOTEC. This covered identifying all CBAM-covered products exported to EU customers, mapping each product’s production route, and breaking each route down into its constituent processes. For every process, inputs and outputs were identified alongside the data already being collected at the plant.

The team then determined the appropriate monitoring methodology, whether calculation-based (standard or mass balance) or measurement-based and mapped the relevant emission factors to standard databases.

Once the mapping was complete, a configured account was set up on the TSC CBAM Exporter platform with all product, process, and emissions data entered. Users were onboarded through a structured training programme, and the platform generated the first CBAM quarterly report.

Phase 1: MappingCBAM domain mapping: products, production routes, processes, emission factors, monitoring methodology selection
Phase 2: SetupPlatform account configured; all product and process data entered
Phase 3: OnboardingProduct demo, user training, onboarding; first CBAM quarterly report generated
Phase 4: Adoption Reviews and ongoing support and consultancy

Impact: From no process to the first compliant report

SRI GOTEC went from having no CBAM reporting process to generating its first audit-ready quarterly report for an EU customer in a matter of weeks. The time required to collect and consolidate emissions data was significantly reduced. Data readiness gaps that had previously gone unquantified were clearly mapped and documented, giving SRI GOTEC a structured path to full-scale rollout across all CBAM-covered products and customers. EU customers received their first compliant submissions, reinforcing SRI GOTEC’s reputation as a regulation-ready export partner.
