In this dynamic context, HelloKindred, a purpose-led staffing and talent experience company operating across the US, UK, South Africa, India, and Canada, began proactively building its sustainability foundation.
With over 25 years in the industry, serving over 200+ clients across continents, HelloKindred has always believed in creating meaningful partnerships not just with clients, but also with people and the planet. While the company was not yet mandated to disclose ESG metrics, leadership recognised that staying ahead of the curve meant investing in robust systems today to support long-term sustainability goals tomorrow.
That’s where it collaborated with India’s oldest climate tech provider, The Sustainability Cloud (TSC), over a six-month pilot project. HelloKindred adopted TSC NetZero, an automated, cloud-based ESG platform designed to turn fragmented data into structured insights. From GHG inventorisation to custom ESG reporting, the solution offered HelloKindred an integrated approach that aligned perfectly with its values of proactive impact and transparency.
Automating ESG Systems from the Ground Up
HelloKindred had previously worked with consultants to build basic carbon reports, but these were static and retrospective in nature. With no automated system in place, the company lacked both real-time insights and a mechanism to apply ESG data to strategy. The goal was to replace this fragmented system with a live dashboard for data collection, ESG bookkeeping, and reporting across five countries
To address this, HelloKindered implemented TSC NetZero, a sustainability management software platform, on a 6-month pilot basis. The aim was to leverage the platform’s ESG solution to automate and digitise data collection, accounting and reporting.
Aligning ESG Goals with HelloKindred’s Core Values
Understanding where to begin is often the hardest part of an ESG journey. The first step of this process was to conduct an ESG materiality assessment, identifying which issues were most relevant to the company’s operations and stakeholders.
Since HelloKindred works deeply in the human capital space, metrics related to worker well-being, human rights, and equitable hiring were prioritised the most. The assessment also revealed a growing need to track environmental indicators such as energy use across office locations, digital carbon footprint from remote operations, and supplier-level impact.
With these insights, a priority list of metrics was to serve as the custom ESG metric framework, complete with guidelines on what to track, how to collect it, and how to report it.
Transforming Carbon Accounting from an Annual Chore to a Real-Time System
Previously, HelloKindred’s carbon accounting process used an annual consultant-led reports structure, which made it difficult to embed emissions management into everyday decisions.TSC conducted a full GHG materiality assessment and mapped all applicable Scope 1, 2, and 3 activities based on the company’s operations, supply chain, and technology use. Our team identified key data gaps and automated the GHG inventory creation process. With quarterly reporting cycles now in place and a centralised emissions dashboard, HelloKindred is positioned to reduce redundancies, monitor emissions across markets, and take corrective action early, no more waiting 12 months to understand last year’s impact.
Based on these findings, HelloKindred adopted a custom ESG framework with clear guidelines on what to track, how to measure it, and how to report it across departments and geographies.
Strengthening Teams Through Training and Tools
An important part of this pilot project was ensuring HelloKindred’s internal teams had the right knowledge to lead their ESG and sustainability. TSC organized interactive workshops for the employees covering topics like ESG frameworks (GRI, SDGs), Scope 1/2/3 differentiation, and how their specific roles contribute to long-term sustainability outcomes. Teams were able to directly engage with the platform, explore metrics, and understand the why behind each data point.
For HelloKindred, this pilot was not just a reporting exercise, it also included an operational shift in the organisation across the globe. From fragmented efforts to integrated sustainability. The 6-month pilot proved how proactive, tech-led ESG systems could drive:
